SiO Hovedkontor

We have completed the new head office for the Studentsamskipnaden i Oslo (SiO), a 1200 sqm project where only 12% of the furniture and interior elements were purchased new. Most of the interior is based on SiO’s existing furniture, complemented with some second-hand pieces and custom-designed elements combining old and new materials. The project focused strongly on functionality and adapting to new ways of working, with a thoughtful distribution of meeting rooms, touchdown zones, consultant areas and traditional desks. In the staff restaurant all the tables are made from reused materials, and all the chairs are reused. Old archive cabinets have been transformed into personal lockers and bookshelves, prolonging the life of furniture that is mostly rendered obsolete due to digitisation. The building is divided into four wings, each with its own colour theme. The workspaces feature calm, soft and muted tones, while the meeting rooms use stronger colours to create energy and character. Curating and framing art was a key part of the project. We mainly worked with SiO’s own art collection, saving many pieces from being forgotten or damaged, and bringing them back into the light.
